My artistic ability has definitely changed over the course of the summer as well as this semester. Coming back to the class doing independent study, I was able to work outside of the class's teaching outline, which gave me a wider spectrum of creation. I used what I learned from Digital Arts 1 and 2 and applied it to my independent work and it turned fantastically.
In this piece I was focusing on the art of Andy Warhol and how he often took the satire of a celebrity to create Pop art. His work of Marilyn Monroe gave me the idea of picking a female celebrity to create a Pop art piece of. I used the selection tool to select the shaded parts of her face, one thing I learned about doing so is that I can use different shades to fill in the selection to give the shade a more realistic look. I was aiming to achieve making my work actually look like the original picture of Lana, which I believe I succeeded at. The hardest part of this piece was the hair, so I decided to just leave it out, which gave it a more Pop art look.
